We are continually exploring new avenues in order to cater for all tastes not just those with an interest in astronomy. Maybe you enjoy music but haven't even considered looking through a telescope! This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a fabulous evening with the added bonus of looking through some of the largest telescopes in the country, if the weather permits. We are again including a wonderful mix of events incorporating astronomy, music, fun science and Christmas entertainment.
Set among the domes of this famous observatory what better place can you think of to spend an evening? Our events are either catered or you can purchase your supper from our catering van the 'Launch Box.' All our evenings include the opportunity to look through our historic telescopes at the wonderful night sky (weather permitting).
It is the 25th anniversary of The Observatory Science Centre in 2020 and we are looking forward to celebrating this monumentous achievement.
Booking essential for Themed Evenings
At present The Observatory Science Centre remains open to the public and will continue to take bookings for upcoming events. The Observatory Science Centre is part of Science Projects Ltd, a registered Charity (298542).
Bookings will be taken for all workshops, events and courses with payment deferred and taken just prior to the activity taking place.
The Observatory Science Centre reserves places in good faith that you will keep us informed if you subsequently decide not to attend.
While the Centre makes every effort to accomodate wheel chair users and others with mobility issues, by virtue of the nature of the building (grade II* listed), the telescopes are accessed by steep narrow stairs. If you require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch.
It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of The Observatory Science Centre from 18th March 2020 until further notice.
This decision was made in the light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and recent UK government advice, which our charity has been carefully monitoring and following.
The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our absolute priority during this difficult time.
Given the uncertainty we are all facing, we don’t yet know when we will re-open. If you have booked group visits / upcoming events etc. we will be in contact when we return to work.
We sincerely wish good health for you and your families during these uncertain times and we can’t wait to welcome you back as we continue our 25th anniversary celebrations.
