With over 100 hands-on exhibits both inside and outdoors there is something for everyone to try. Our permanent indoor exhibits are based around the themes of Forces, Light and Clour, Earth and Beyond and Astronomy and Time. We also have temporary exhibitions that we change during the year to give you an even broader science experience. Our outdoor exhibits explore water and sound plus we have a Discovery Park of giant exhibits; a fascinating 'playground' full of fun and excitement.
All our exhibits are fully interactive and suitable for all ages; come and try them out to see what they do! Each exhibit has an explainer alongside with information about how to use the exhibit, what is happening and why. The explainers will often demonstrate links to everyday objects, showing how science and technology affects our lives in so many different ways.
Our parent charity Science Projects Ltd design and build our exhibits. They have over 25 years experience and deliver projects throughout the world.
Hands on, feet on, minds on!
Fascinating themed exhibits
Different exhibits at different times.
Some of our indoor exhibits are unsuitable for visitors with pacemakers, cochlear implants and insulin pumps. Please check the individual pages for more information about each exhibition. You will be able to download an exhibit list which carries warning symbols for your information.
In extreme weather or if the ground is excessively wet and boggy the outdoor exhibits will be closed for health and safety reasons.

The Observatory Science Centre is part of Science Projects Ltd, a company limited by guarantee registered in England No: 02186073 and a registered charity No: 298542. The registered office is 3 – 15 Stirling Road, Acton, London. W3 8DJ. UK.
It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of The Observatory Science Centre from 18th March 2020 until further notice.
This decision was made in the light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and recent UK government advice, which our charity has been carefully monitoring and following.
The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our absolute priority during this difficult time.
Given the uncertainty we are all facing, we don’t yet know when we will re-open. If you have booked group visits / upcoming events etc. we will be in contact when we return to work.
We sincerely wish good health for you and your families during these uncertain times and we can’t wait to welcome you back as we continue our 25th anniversary celebrations.
