Holiday fun for children aged 6-8 years and 9-11 years. In addition to our daily activities, during the local school holidays we also offer fantastic workshops for children which are a great way to have fun and learn at the same time. They are fully interactive; children are totally immersed in carrying out experiments or making and creating (depending on the type of workshop). Many of the workshops involve an element of 'Make and Take' projects when the children are able to take home what they have made in the workshop.
Specific workshops are aimed at age groups 6-8 years and 9-11 years. Please check the intended age group of your chosen workshop. We cannot accept children who are younger than the intended age and we would be very grateful if you respect this policy.
All our staff and volunteers are checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and our adult to child ratio ensures sufficient support throughout the workshop.
The workshops are intended for children only and we encourage adults to leave their children with us unless they have additional needs and require extra help and support.
Please be aware we are not specialist SEND providers and therefore we are unable to offer one to one support. If your child/children receive one to one care in school please contact us prior to booking to make sure that the workshop is suitable for your child/children's needs.
For further information about dropping off and picking up your children please refer to specific workshop pages where you can download an information pack.
While we do our best to include all the activities mentioned in the descriptions, some activities may vary on the day. However, it will be great fun! We recommend warm, practical clothing and sensible footwear for all the workshops.
Please note that the cost of the workshop is for the workshop only and does not include entry to The Science Centre before or after the workshop.
You can book workshops online using PayPal. Alternatively you can phone The Centre on 01323 832731 and secure place(s) using a debit or credit card.
We do expect good behaviour on all of our workshops. This will not only enhance your child's enjoyment, it will ensure that the workshop is not disrupted and all the other children will be able to enjoy the experience too. With this in mind we ask you to fill in a code of conduct. You can download this when making a booking on-line (an information pack can be found on the individual workshop pages) and bring it with you or fill one in when you register your child/children before the workshop starts. For bookings taken over the phone an information pack will be sent via email. The information pack also includes notes for dropping off/picking up etc.
Booking is essential for all workshops.
