Dates: Saturday 3rd January, Wednesday 18th February, Saturday 14th March.
About the event:
Grab your torch, gather family & friends and join us for an evening of discovery and space exploration. These events are suitable for all ages – with a family friendly atmosphere and plenty of fun to be had! Our team will show you the stars through our historic telescopes (weather permitting) and provide an immersive planetarium experience. Event tickets include a warm drink and a biscuit for children, and a hot drink for the grown ups.
Food and drinks will be available to purchase from our café.
If the weather is not suitable to look through the telescopes (cloudy, rainy, foggy or if the wind is too strong), we do not cancel Stargazing Events. Instead there will be planetarium shows, opportunities to chat to astronomy experts with no question too big or too small!
Don’t forget to wear warm clothing – you will be outside for much of the evening!
Did you know? Using red rather than white light torches means your eyes are better adapted to see in the dark. Our site is lit up with red lights during stargazing evenings and you can purchase red light torches in our shop or download an app such as NightVision Light in the Apple App Store.
Accessibility: please be aware that due to our historic building, all except one of our telescope domes are accessed by steep narrow stairs. Our site is otherwise accessible. If you are a blue badge holder, there are 5 parking bays available at the back of the building, please follow the signs.
We would recommend that children are 5 years and older. Unfortunately, the event is not suitable for pushchairs.
