Quiz Night & Stargazing

Come along to our ADULT Exclusive Summer Special Quiz Night & Stargazing Evening.

On arrival you are welcome to explore the hands on exhibits indoors and outdoors and look around some of the domes before the evening begins. 

Café will be open to serve hot drinks, cold drinks and snacks. Alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Food will be served from our LAUNCH BOX at the back of the café from 7.00pm-8.30pm. Pre-ordering food is highly recommended. Please phone The Centre on 01323 832731 to pre-order your food. The Launch Box serves:

• Burger & Fries
• Cheeseburger & Fries
• Falafel Burger & Fries
• Frankfurter Hot Dog & Fries

Being a social event you will be grouped into teams of 6-8 (teams will be already named after planets), where you should feel comfortable to mingle with other like- minded people. Alternatively why not bring along your own team! The quiz will test your knowledge about allsorts including star studied questions and a mix of Food & Drink & General Knowledge questions. 

The winning team will be awarded a small prize!

After a social fun packed evening of quizzing, group tours will begin taking you around the domes to view through our historic telescopes (weather permitting) and meet our knowledgeable Astronomers. This is your chance to ask loads of questions!

ITINERARY

7.000pm: arrive to enjoy all of our hands on exhibits indoors and outdoors.

8.00pm: Main Doors will close.

7.00pm-8.30pm:  Launch Box Open for food.

7.00pm-10pm: Café serving hot drinks, cold drinks, snacks and alcoholic beverages.

8.30pm – 9.15pm: Quiz will commence - All to be seated at your specific team table in our large white geodesic tent.

9.15pm – 09.30pm: Break

09.30 – 10.15pm: Quiz to re commence – All to be seated at your specific team table.

10.30pm: Tours of the domes and viewing will commence after the quiz.

12.30am: Close   

Booking Essential (18+ only)   

While this is a summer event please make sure you have something warm and wear sensible footware. Please bring a torch, preferably red light. The Centre, has been built on different levels with high walkways and steps, please be very careful when walking around The Centre especially in the hours of darkness.

While The Centre makes every effort to accomodate wheel chair users and others with mobility issues, by virtue of the nature of the building (grade II* listed), the telescopes are accessed by steep narrow stairs. If you require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch.

If using Sat Nav, please use ‘Wartling Road’ and NOT our postcode.

PARKING: There is ample free parking on the grassed car park in front of The Centre. 

If you are a blue badge holder, there are 5 parking bays available at the back of the science centre, adjacent to our ramped entrance. Please note that by virtue of the historic nature of the building, the domes are accessed by steep narrow stairs.

The Observatory Science Centre reserves the right to cancel a session due to low numbers, in which case an alternative date or full refund would be given.
