Star Search Courses

£76.00 per Adult

A fantastic opportunity to learn how to navigate your way around the night sky using the constellations as your guide. Taught in one of our domes under the backdrop of a historic telescope and outside under the stars, you will learn how to recognise star patterns and find out more about the mythologies behind them.

Night Sky Photography

£55.00 per Adult

24th March. This course will be teaching practical aspects of night sky photography through lectures and demonstrations. You do not need to bring cameras, tripods or telescopes just listen and learn and take away all the essential information you will need to start you on your fascinating journey into night sky photography. Open Evenings

Come and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere that surrounds the Observatory at night and, weather permitting look through some of the largest telescopes in the country at some extraordinary night sky objects. Don't worry if it is cloudy we have a cloudy night contingency; a fascinating planetarium style talk! No booking required.

Crime Detectives

£12.75 per Child

Half day workshops for 6-8 year olds. Oh no a crime has been committed and we need your help to assist with an investigation!

Eyes on the Universe

£12.75 per Child

Half day workshops for 9-11 year olds: 'Eyes on the Universe' What's in space? Can we go there? Can we see it? How big is it? Is there anybody there? So many questions! Come and find out some of the answers by doing fascinating hands-on activities.

Wartling Road

June 10th - 14th and June 17th - 20th 

For 9 working days East Sussex Highways are carrying out patching works on Wartling Road which will be closed to through traffic 7 am – 7 pm, but will be allowing access to both The Observatory Science Centre and Herstmonceux Castle Gardens & Grounds.  Evening / night access is unaffected and there will be no weekend working.

The Observatory Science Centre and Herstmonceux Gardens & Grounds will be open as normal and we will provide updates as necessary.
