The Solar System for Beginners
16th September: This 4 week course will introduce you to the Solar System including the planets and their moons and how and why the Sun is so important to us. Suitable for those with little or no knowledge of the subject.

New for 2021
This brand new course for 2021 is offering a shorter more targeted course for beginners. It will help you digest the subject matter in easy to understand language, guiding you through all aspects of the Solar System. The content will focus on:
- The Earth, Moon and Sun
- Other planets and their moons
- Minor bodies such as dwarf planets, comets, asteroids and meteors
- The edge of the solar system
- The beginning and end of the solar system
The course is presented on-line via zoom one evening per week from Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 1/2/3 March to Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 22/23/24 March.
In addition to the on-line content there will be an opportunity to ask questions. Notes in pdf form will also be made available after each evening which covers the same content. They may also include sections that go into more depth to enable you to explore the material further if you would like.
Who is this course for?
It is our aim to present material as a narrative and explanations that can be understood by anyone with a basic knowledge of maths and science (although maths is not a requirement).
