February Half Term Holiday

Children playing with Air Stream Exhibit at the Observatory Science Centre & Museum

What will you discover this half term at the Observatory Science Centre & Museum?

Half term, between 14th and 22nd February 2026, we’ll be presenting our spaced themed science show ‘Destination Space’. During this exciting show, you will…

Learn about the journey to and from the International Space Station

Understand what life is like on board the ISS

Hear about some of the dangers of life in space

See images taken of Earth from the ISS

Watch a video message from astronaut Tim Peake!

There will be regular telescope tours where you can learn about our telescopes here at Herstmonceux. Find out how they work, what they were used for and ask any questions you have.

You can enjoy all our exhibits in the permanent galleries, ‘Light & Colour’, ‘Earth & Beyond’ and ‘Forces’. Plus our travelling exhibitions – currently ‘Shocking Electricity’ and The ‘Art of Art’.

Don’t forget to visit Dome F for the Domes of Discovery Exhibition, where you’ll find our popular Orrery.

A half term visit wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the café for cake, hot & cold drinks as well as sandwiches, paninis, toasties and snacks. You can also bring a picnic which you can eat in our marquee area.

If the weather stays fairly dry, our Discovery Park, featuring giant science exhibits will be available, along with our water play areas.

Please note, our parking is currently on Wartling Road due to a rather wet January. You can find out more about our parking arrangements here.
