The safety and well being of our visitors, employees and volunteers is our absolute priority.
We want to do whatever we can to ensure you have a memorable visit in a safe, enriching environment: if you have any questions or concerns please raise them with the Duty Manager whilst you are on site.
We recognise and acknowledge that not all visitors, nor members of our team will feel comfortable with the easing of restrictions. We should all respect and consider others at this time as we adjust and learn to live with COVID-19.
Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to ask people to leave without reimbursement of entry fee.
Most legal restrictions were lifted on 19th July 2021 as England moved to Step 4 of the roadmap. However guidelines remain in place and we have chosen to retain some measures: everyone is advised to exercise common sense and consider the risk to help you stay safe and protect others.
We aim to keep you feeling safe by:
What we ask of you in return to show you care:
Please do not visit The Observatory Science Centre if you’re feeling unwell.
The main symptoms to be aware of:
Our team do not attend the workplace if they have recognised symptoms of COVID-19.
If you become unwell whilst on site please speak to a member of our team immediately.
We strongly recommend that visitors pre-book on-line: PayPal required at checkout. Booking cut-off is 11.59 pm on the evening before the visit date.
To keep everyone safe we are monitoring visitor numbers: balancing with our team availability and the weather forecast (wet weather increases indoor crowd density).
If you miss the booking deadline you are welcome to check if we have 'walk-in' availability, but this is not guaranteed and we may have to turn visitors away who have not pre-booked.
The Observatory Science Centre is an open, airy site with outdoor areas, domes and exhibits. We will have doors open to maintain air flow.
With our careful monitoring of visitor numbers you can choose to limit the close contact you have with people you do not usually live with. These are personal choices which can help reduce your risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.
We are making full use of The Launch Box for catering and we have tables / chairs in The Big Space airy marquee. We operate a one-way system in our Cafe.
It is no longer mandatory to wear a face covering however you will see that many visitors and members of our team are choosing to continue to wear them.
It is personal choice but we recommend that you wear a face covering (unless you are exempt) when you are in enclosed exhibit galleries. By wearing a face covering you are protecting others as well as yourself.
Please cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue: if no tissue is available, use your elbow.
Hand sanitiser stations are positioned throughout the site, with signs reminding visitors of the importance of frequent hand cleaning.
Our facilities are cleaned regularly and our team deliver COVID-19 secure cleaning and disinfecting protocols throughout the site.
We accept contactless mobile / card, cash and even cheques!
