15th March Workshop - Weather

Fantastic fun series of ‘Make n’ Take’ half-day workshops for children aged 6-10 years.  Sessions from 10.30am – 1pm or 2pm – 4.30pm.

 Cost £8.95 per session unless otherwise stated.  Workshops are limited to a maximum of 24 children per session. Prices are per child pre-booked workshop session only. If you wish to visit the Centre before or after sessions, an  additional normal admission charge will apply.

Morning only -  A Day in the Life of a Big Balloon (for ages 6 - 10).

We follow Big balloons high in the sky, as we look at all the cloud types and how they form, measure the winds by making our own wind speed recorder and release our own tagged balloons to see how far they will travel – and see where we get them sent back from!  Join the Weather Shop team for this fun, unique workshop!

Afternoon only – Climate Control Forecast: ON! (for ages 11 - 14)

  What is making all the ice melt so fast?  What might help it cool? What happens when all that icy-cold polar air meets hot tropical air?  We will try to answer all these questions in a lively afternoon with the Weather Shop’s meteorologist and staff.  Then through real-time communication with weather enthusiasts around the UK you’ll get to present and compare UK weather data, as we build our own forecast to post up in the Observatory.

A  variation on the theme of an Easter Egg Hunt!  Follow the trail of science questions that will lead you around the centre.  Normal admission charges apply
